Dogger Bank, the 3.6GW ongoing project undergoing construction in the North Sea is now contributing to the UK national grid. With its completion date set for 2026, it’s certainly a milestone in our country’s journey to Net-Zero.

With the UK’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050, more and more homeowners and businesses across the UK are turning to power alternatives. Last year, wind power had a record year of production, totaling 26.8% of all electricity in the UK, making it the second-largest source of electricity in 2022.

So, it’s clear that Dogger Bank will play a huge part in keeping our homes warm and powered up soon. Once complete, the wind farm will see an impressive 277 turbines, capable of powering six million homes annually in action at the site. The incredible project, which is 124 miles off the Yorkshire coast, is being developed and built by the UK’s SSE Renewables, alongside Norway’s Equinor and Vårgrønn.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has commended the achievement, stating

“Offshore wind power is critical to generating renewable, efficient energy that can power British homes from British seas.”
