The company aims to continuously improve its environmental performance by regular examination of its key business processes and procedures. Best available techniques will be used to minimise our usage and eliminate or render harmless any waste produced. All wastes arising will be disposed of in a safe and responsible manner.

Rix Shipping is engaged in the Ownership and Management of vessels, and these Policies apply throughout the organisation at all times. The following policies are implemented as part of the integrated QHSE ashore and the SMS aboard vessels.


Our Quality Management System is based on the requirements of ISO 9001:2008.To implement this we will:

  • Focus on the needs of the business, with particular emphasis on exceeding the expectations of customer requirements and needs, and statutory obligations.
  • Strive to provide a proactive approach to customer needs, and respond positively to comments and requests.
  • Establish responsibilities for quality and communicate these clearly to all employees.

Health and Safety

Our Health and Safety Management System is based on the requirements of OHSAS 18001:2007 and the ISM Code and we commit to provide a Healthy and Safe working environment to prevent injury and ill health. In providing this we will comply with all applicable legislation and laws as determined by International, National and Local regulations. We will:

  • Monitor and continuously improve awareness and management of Health and Safety.
  • Provide a Safe Working Environment, and ensure that personnel are properly and appropriately trained.
  • Review accidents and near misses to enable the prevention of re-occurrence.
  • Assess and establish appropriate safeguards to all identified risks.
  • Prevent damage to property and the environment by implementing best practise.


Our Environmental Management System is based on the requirements of ISO 14001:2007 and the ISM Code, and we commit to the protection and conservation of the environment. In providing this we will comply with all relevant legislation as determined by International, National and Local regulations. We will seek to:

  • Prevent pollution at all times, and aim for zero spills.
  • Make efficient use of resources.
  • Minimise waste and emissions to air and water.
  • Provide effective monitoring of environmental performance.


Rix Shipping recognises that providing a secure environment is fundamental to providing a safe working environment. It is company policy to provide this by establishing and maintaining the required measures required to prevent breaches of security as required by applicable legislation, most particularly the ISPS Code on board our vessels.

All policies and procedures will be reviewed at regular intervals to ensure a continual improvement process is achieved and include a framework for establishing and reviewing objectives set.

Rix Shipping expects all personnel, both ashore and afloat, to support and improve the policies and procedures as laid down in the QHSEMS/SMS and to ensure that the above policies are fully implemented both ashore and on board vessels.
